RON AND YOGI

RON & HIS ASSISTANCE DOG YOGI

Retiring after 40 years with Victoria Police and time in the Army Reserve, Ron Fenton was diagnosed with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Ron was shot in the head by an offender who murdered a security guard in Clayton in 1984.

He returned to duty in 1996, working out of Werribee Police Station.

In recent years he developed PTSD and had Yogi, a Labrador assistance dog, to help him with his nightmares and ease his reliance on medication.

Sadly, Ron died after a battle with cancer in 2021.

Below is a short interview with Ron telling of Yogi’s impact on his life, WorkSafe agreeing to meet the costs of Yogi and assistance dogs now being recognized as treatment for PTSD sufferers.
